Welcome to website dedicated to Aleksandra Ionowa, a Finnish mystical artist
Aleksandra Ionowa's art contains over
1200 works: drawings, gouache, pastel and watercolor works and oil
paintings. The creative work started in summer 1946. Another creative
channel for her was piano improvisations. In the first creative period
(1946-47), was also born aphoristic poetry, 43 poems in all.
When poem or aphorism got its verbal form, it was then transformed into
a drawing. These poems are also the gateway to her thoughts. Image,
word and music portray in symbolic form the message of the human and his or
her part in the world. This timeless message, of which many forms are
the subject of Ionowa's art, appeared first in this early unification
of words and images.
Aleksandra Ionowa was born in 19.4.1899
from Russian parents in Lahti, Finland. In Lahti she also passed away in 1980.
